In Athens (Greece) on 8 & 9 October ICLEI Europe, in cooperation with the EKLIPSE project, hosted a two-day capacity-building workshop titled, “Financing Greener Cities – Strengthening the capacity of local authorities and practitioners for making informed decisions on financing nature-based solutions.”
It was attended by local and regional policy makers, economic scientists, practitioners, academic experts, and representatives of not-for-profit organisations interested in learning about financing arrangements for biodiversity, ecosystem services and nature-based solutions.
During the workshop, 40 participants from across Europe discussed the most urgent challenges to financing greener cities, mapped the financing landscape in Europe, reflected on innovative financing options, and made the case for investing in biodiversity, ecosystem services and nature-based solutions. They received targeted support and shared knowledge with high-level European experts.
It was a highly successful workshop with lots of interaction between the participants and good feedback was received on the combination of the Naturvation Business Model Puzzle tool and Connecting Nature Business Model Canvas tool.
The workshop was driven by the European projects NATURVATION, CLEVER Cities and Connecting Nature.
